Tour introduction

If you like good and authentic food, this is the right tour for you!

You will enjoy a cultural itinerary combined with mouthwatering dinners and a cooking class.

The first day will be spent in Conversano, a city rich in history and legends, most of them related to the famous and dreadful Earl Giangirolamo. After a welcome drink and first tasting, you will be fascinated by the city castle, churches and alleys in the old town. Your dinner will be served in a country house surrounded by a natural scenery.

The second day, after breakfast, you will leave for a visit to the capital of trulli, Alberobello. These stone-built conical houses have been inserted in the UNESCO heritage. After some free time for shopping and lunch, you will move on to the afternoon visit of the Castellana Caves, an amazing cave system with millions of stalactites and stalagmites (please have a jumper and comfortable shoes with you). In the evening you will enjoy a relaxing stroll in Polignano city centre with breathtaking views over the sea and you will have dinner in a local restaurant.

On the last day of this tour you will get to know the Apulian capital city, Bari: from St Nicholas Basilica, to the castle, the cathedral, the main squares and the highlights of the city from the past to the present. In the afternoon you will leave Bari to magically turn into students! A chef will be ready to teach you some local recipes that you will then taste in the following farewell dinner.

Detailed program

Day 1

• Pick up from the airport.
• Welcome drink in a historic house in Conversano city centre. The building dates back to the 1880s and it boasts fine frescos, antiques and original furniture. You will taste wine and typical products.
• Guided tour of Conversano with its legendary castle, cathedral, San Benedetto Monastery and city walls.
• Dinner in a country house.
• Overnight stay.

Day 2

• Breakfast at your B&B.
• Guided tour of Alberobello with its famous trulli, stone-built conical houses which are part of the UNESCO heritage.
• Lunch in Alberobello and free time.
• Afternoon visit to the Castellana Caves, a 3km itinerary in the widest karst complex of Italy.
• Evening in Polignano with dinner.
• Overnight stay.

Day 3

• Breakfast at your B&B.
• Guided tour of Bari with St Nicholas Basilica, the castle, the cathedral and the old town.
• Lunch in Bari and visit of city wall, Piazza Mercantile, Piazza Ferrarese and seafront.
• Afternoon cooking lesson followed by dinner.
• Overnight stay.

Day 4

• Transfer to the airport.

Booking conditions

Minimum of 8 participants.

The price refers to the total cost per person, including VAT.

At the time of booking only 25% of the amount will be required as deposit.

The balance payment must be made within 90 days before departure, subject to confirmation of the minimum number of participants in the tour.

If the minimum number is not confirmed, Discovery Puglia will move the booking to the next tour available at no extra charge or provide a refund of the deposit.
