Tour introduction

A few days in Salento will let you experience the emotion of standing in front of the marvellous Lecce's Baroque.

The extreme adaptability of that particular stone allowed architects and artists to build these unique masterpieces.

Starting with Lecce, also known as the "Florence of the South", you will, then, move towards Gallipoli, the "Ionian pearl", and Galatone, to end up in Nardò, with its Salandra Square, City Hall and St Dominique Church.

During your last day, you will have the chance to admire Corigliano, an old military location, Melpignano, where the famous event called "La notte della Taranta" takes place, and Galatina with its Mother Church, superbe example of Baroque.

Detailed program

Day 1

• 3pm: Participants' meeting in the "Arrivals" hall of Brindisi airport.
• Afternoon: transfer to Lecce. Guided tour of the old town, heart of the Apulian Baroque style, with its Church of the Holy Cross, St Orontius Square, Piazza del Duomo, Celestini Palace.
• Transfer to the b&b
• Evening: Dinner and evening on your own.
• Overnight.

Day 2

• Morning: breakfast at the b&b and transfer to Gallipoli. Guided tour of the old town and lunch on your own.
• Afternoon: transfer to Galatone. Guided tour of the old town with its churches, palaces and castle.
• Evening: Transfer to Nardò - dinner in town and evening on your own, strolling through this Baroque town in the heart of Salento (Salandra Square, city hall, churches and palaces)
• Transfer to the b&b and overnight.

Day 3

• Morning: breakfast at the b&b and transfer to Corigliano. Guided tour of the old town (De Monti's Castle, Lucchetti Arch, Clock Tower and palaces). After the tour, transfer to Melpignano. Guided tour of the old town with its churches, St George square, the Augustinian Convent, and lunch on your own.
• Afternoon: transfer to Galatina. Guided tour of the city and its Mother Church, palaces and hidden Baroque corners.
• Evening: transfer to Lecce. Dinner in town and evening on your own.
• Overnight.

Day 4

• Breakfast at the b&b and transfer to the airport.

Booking conditions

Minimum of 8 participants.

The price refers to the total cost per person, including VAT.

At the time of booking only 25% of the amount will be required as deposit.

The balance payment must be made within 90 days before departure, subject to confirmation of the minimum number of participants in the tour.

If the minimum number is not confirmed, Discovery Puglia will move the booking to the next tour available at no extra charge or provide a refund of the deposit.
