The aquifer of Apulia

The city has its roots in the site called Salentinum, a hill about 3 kilometers from Acquaviva: on this hill you can see the remains of an ancient village founded by Peuceti, which had its peak in the IV-III century BC. In 841 AD, the successors to the dukedom clashed around Salentinum for the throne, and probably on this occasion the primordial village was destroyed.
