Overview
Three UNESCO World Heritage Sites. One week by bike. A route that connects them through some of the most ancient and undervisited landscape in southern Italy.
The journey begins in the shadow of Castel del Monte — Frederick II's eight-sided enigma on a Murge hilltop, built to a geometric precision that architects have been arguing about for eight centuries. The route then drops through the canyons and rocky plateau of the Murge National Park before arriving in Matera: one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities on earth, a landscape of cave dwellings carved into limestone ravines that has to be seen in the afternoon light, when it becomes something extraordinary, to be properly understood.
The final stage brings you to Alberobello and the trulli country of central Puglia — cone-roofed limestone houses built without mortar, clustered in valleys that cyclists pass through at exactly the right speed to notice everything.
A road book and on-site English-speaking support accompany you throughout. The route is ours. The experience of riding it is entirely your own.
